Partnerships and Grants Manager
ArcticNet is Canada’s Arctic research network. We convene scientists, engineers, northern researchers, and other professionals in the human health, natural, and social sciences to study the impacts and opportunities of change in the Canadian North. We work closely with partners from Indigenous organizations, northern communities, government agencies, and the private sector to advance knowledge generation and bridge national knowledge assets.
WORK SUMMARY
ArcticNet is seeking an experienced and motivated Partnerships and Grants Manager to support the ArcticNet team by advancing collaborations and contributions with a diverse set of partners. This position will work closely with the ArcticNet team, its Scientific Directors, and the Executive Director (under the latter’s supervision).
TASKS/RESPONSABILITES
This exciting position will bring you into an enthusiastic team of professionals and northern researchers, managers, Northerners, and students, all with a vested interest in the North. The Partnerships and Grants Manager will be responsible for managing contributions and grants from diverse partners to ArcticNet’s vast program of research, training, and knowledge mobilization.
Partnership Development
- Develop, foster, and maintain partnerships with the private sector, philanthropic organizations, universities, government (federal, provincial, and territorial), and Inuit, First Nations, and Métis organizations.
- Manage initiatives and partnership operations including, work plan and budget development/adjustment, communication with stakeholders, contracting, evaluation, and reporting.
- Set up, track, and refine partnership finances with the support of the accounting team.
- Plan and monitor timelines, milestones, delivery deadlines, resources, and outputs using project management tools and collaborate with team members to recommend optimizations.
- Facilitate opportunities for fund leveraging to support program activities.
- Remain knowledgeable about ArcticNet partnerships, regardless if lead on the file.
- Maintain positive relationships with northern Indigenous groups, Inuit, First Nations and Métis.
- Lead the preparation of timely reports to partners and donors; responsible for narrative and seek financial approval from Accountant and Executive Director.
- Lead in writing MOUs and new partner agreements.
- Lead and assist in writing funding proposals and grant applications.
- Support the long-term success of partnerships, from starting partnerships to closing deals and reporting to the end of agreements.
- Support donor and partner relations and contribute to fundraising efforts.
- Support new opportunities for expansion and sustainability.
- Support Executive and Scientific Directors in partner presentations, pitches, and meetings as required.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare meeting agendas, and take minutes.
- Draft and prepare correspondence.
- Work with partners to mobilize knowledge of their research results through the publication of their assessments, science briefs, etc.
- Work with the team to provide logistical support to Annual Scientific Meetings, specifically in supporting the Communications and Events Officer with partnerships.
- Assist with any other duties required by the program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Excellent verbal and written English; advanced verbal and written French is a strong asset;
- A minimum of 5+ years experience in partnerships management;
- Experience in partnerships and grants management (from development of partnerships to closure and reporting);
- Knowledge of the northern environment and its inhabitants;
- Exceptionally skilled in interpersonal relations and communications;
- A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel) and experience in handling web-based communications and other project management systems;
- Strong organizational, problem solving, and time management skills;
- Superior accuracy and attention to detail.
WORKPLACE
ArcticNet has offices located at Université Laval, Québec City and at University of Ottawa, Ontario. The selected candidate will work at the Université Laval office in Québec City. We offer a hybrid work environment.
