Arctic Change 2017

With over 1450 registrants, Arctic Change 2017 has been by far the most popular annual gathering in ArcticNet’s history. Arctic researchers, Inuit, First Nations and Northern community representatives, government and non-government organizations, students, and industry stakeholders from 22 countries convened in Québec City from December 11-15, 2017, to discuss global challenges and opportunities arising from climate change and modernization in the circum-Arctic.The breadth and depth of the Conference Program was unprecedented. ASM2018

ASM attendance reached unprecedented numbers in 2018 with over 1250 registrants convening at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa from December 10 – 14, 2018 for the ASM2018! Researchers, Inuit, First Nations, students, and government representatives alike, chose the ASM2018 to share their knowledge and expertise on an impressive array of Arctic related issues. ArcticNet’s 15th Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM 2019) hosted approximately 1100 registrants convening at the Halifax Convention Center from December 2-5, 2019. Participants included Arctic researchers, Inuit, First Nations, Métis and Northern community representatives, government and non-government organizations, students, and industry stakeholders. Northern participation is a valued aspect of the ASM, and thanks to the Northern Travel Fund initiatives and support from ArcticNet’s core projects, 286 residents from Inuit Nunangat and the Territories were able to attend the conference. Arctic Change 2020

2020 was a year like no other for Arctic research, and ArcticNet’s Arctic Change conference was no exception. Held every three years in different Canadian locations, the international conference shifted to a virtual setting with the global COVID-19 pandemic, with 1600 attendees tuning in online from across Canada and around the world. This year included 327 Northern participants, the most representative Arctic Change conference yet. The heart of any conference is the people, and the connections participants make with each other.
