ASM2015
ArcticNet’s 11th Annual Scientific Meeting was an incredible success thanks to the conference’s numerous sponsors, partners, exhibitors, volunteers and participants. Over 700 arctic researchers, graduate students, northern community representatives, and government and industry partners gathered at The Westin Bayshore in Vancouver from 7 to 11 December 2015 to discuss the latest results in Canadian and international Arctic research.
More than 250 oral presentations and 190 scientific posters from all fields of Arctic research were presented during the meeting, reflecting the tremendous, multidisciplinary research effort supported by the Network and its partners.
As evidence of a promising future for Canadian Arctic research, over 300 graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and researchers attended the tenth ArcticNet Student Day, with 10 students awarded prizes for the excellence of their posters and research.
ArcticNet was pleased to welcome The W. Garfield Weston Foundation to present the annual Weston Family Prize for Lifetime Achievement in Northern Research to Dr. Ian Stirling during the conference. In addition, the Inuit Recognition Award was presented to Doug Esagok for his contribution to Arctic research and the APECS Canada-ASA Mentor Award was presented to Dr. Christopher Furgal, acknowledging his dedication to early career polar researchers.
The ArcticNet Board of Directors, Research Management Committee and Administrative Centre would like to thank all the participants, sponsors, partners and exhibitors for their contribution in making the ASM2015 such a great success.
