ArcticNet Media and Communications Training
This webinar is dedicated to providing ArcticNet researchers with best practices to engage with the media to share their research. We will discuss how to effectively communicate, work with the media and provide tips and tricks to prepare for media interviews.
Erica Baird (She/Her) is the Communications and Events Officer at ArcticNet. Erica oversees all communications, including press releases, social media posts, website posts, media requests, as well as the Science Communications Coordinator’s position. She is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM). As a graduate from Carleton University with a BA (Honours) in Communications and Media Studies, Erica is passionate about applying her communications and social media skills to a variety of different fields, ranging from retail to research. She has a background in science communications through working for various research organizations, and is dedicated to making science accessible to a wider audience, through conferences and communications alike.
Julia Macpherson (She/Her) is the Science Communications Coordinator at ArcticNet. She supports all communications and knowledge mobilization projects including the SNRI webinar series and the monthly newsletter. Julia has a background in research and holds an M.Sc. in biological sciences from the University of New Brunswick (Saint John). As a graduate student, she became interested in science communication and began to explore different ways to share science through communication. She has participated in various science communication trainings including ComSciConCan Atlantic (2021), Three-minute thesis (3MT) and the Association of Science Communicators (ASC) Mastering Social Media for SciComm.
