ArcticNet and Mitacs sign MoU
ArcticNet is pleased to announce this partnership of many to further Arctic science: We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mitacs. The purpose of this MoU is to identify where opportunities may exist to link each other’s programs to provide enhanced or additional opportunities for Canadian, and particularly Northern, students to participate in Mitacs funded programs.
The MoU was signed on December 6th, 2021.
“ArcticNet is continuing to partner with Mitacs as we share our common goal of supporting and training the next generation of Arctic experts. Together, we aim to train experts on Arctic issues in the North and in the South, unleashing and building capacity for research in cold regions.” – Dr. Christine Barnard, ArcticNet Executive Director
“At a time of immense change and new challenges in the Arctic, the people who live there, along with governments, scientists, and the international community have identified research gaps in the region. Closing those gaps by driving new research and spearheading new regional initiatives will be critical in the years to come. Mitacs is thrilled to partner with ArcticNet to create opportunities for a new generation of Arctic researchers to build innovative and inclusive projects that address issues including climate change and challenges facing Indigenous communities.” – Dr. John Hepburn, CEO, Mitacs
