ArcticNet and APECS sign MoU

ArcticNet is pleased to announce this partnership of many to further Arctic science: We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists Canada (APECS Canada). This MoU between ArcticNet and APECS Canada will promote northern research and culture while supporting the exchange of knowledge and fostering the creation of synergies in Arctic research between researchers, institutions, communities, governments, and the private sector. We are also excited to announce that APECS Canada members are now eligible to the ArcticNet Training Funds.

The MoU was signed on September 12th, 2022.

About APECS Canada 

The Association of Polar Early Career Scientist in Canada (APECS Canada) is a diverse group of early career scientists who are part of the larger Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) network. APECS is an international and interdisciplinary organization for undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, early faculty members, educators and others with interests in Polar and Alpine Regions and the wider Cryosphere. By providing networking and career development opportunities, APECS’ activities aim to: a) raise the profile of polar research; b) develop effective leaders in education and outreach; and, c) stimulate interdisciplinary and international research collaborations. APECS Canada builds on extensive national and disciplinary networks to develop integrated research directions, meet career development needs, and communicate the urgencies of polar science to a worldwide audience. As early career scientists, APECS Canada members are tomorrow’s academic leaders, and much of the focus of the group is shaping the future of polar research. From developing healthy strategies for interdisciplinary research to promoting equity and diversity in polar field research, APECS Canada strives to provide positive direction for polar research as a whole. APECS Canada is the national committee of APECS in Canada and exists to coordinate activities within Canada that further APECS’ goals.APECS Canada has a board formed of elected members from across Canada and will be working over the coming months and years to create great resources for all of the early career polar researchers (ECRs) in Canada.
