ArcticNet and T-MOSAiC announce pre-agreement

ArcticNet is pleased to announce another partnership to further Arctic science: We have signed a pre-agreement with T-MOSAiC for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to promote scientific cooperation between the organizations, and to encourage the exchange of knowledge and creation of synergies in Arctic research between facilities, researchers and nations. 

The MOU will be finalized and ratified at Arctic Science Summit Week 2021 in Lisbon, Portugal next March. 

“ArcticNet continues to grow the Network far beyond Canadian borders. This partnership will strengthen the quality and reach of Arctic science for Canadian and international researchers alike,” said Christine Barnard, executive director of ArcticNet.

About T-MOSAiC:

T-MOSAiC (Terrestrial Multidisciplinary distributed Observatories for the Study of Arctic Connections), is a circumpolar project under the auspices of the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) that is focused on understanding how the northern terrestrial environment is affected by changing sea ice and ocean climate conditions. The science plan focuses on system-level themes such as gradients, thresholds, extreme events, feedbacks, legacy effects and connectivity, and is organized as 12 action groups on subjects ranging from greenhouse gases and microbiomes, to arctic infrastructure and northern community issues. The project involves 16 nations, and coordinates joint research activities, training and outreach opportunities, workshops and publications. T-MOSAiC aims to establish enduring connections among researchers of different countries, cultures and disciplinary backgrounds, to achieve an improved understanding of how northern terrestrial geosystems, ecosystems and human systems are responding to environmental change.
