ASM2010
ArcticNet’s latest Annual Scientific Meeting – ASM2010 – was successfully held from 14 to 17 December 2010 at the Westin Ottawa, in downtown Ottawa, Ontario.
With close to 550 participants, ASM2010 proved to be a dynamic networking event, providing an excellent opportunity for Network Investigators, Post-Doctoral Fellows, Graduate Students, Research Staff, Network Partners from governments, Inuit organizations and industry, as well as Board and Committee Members to meet face to face in the light of the latest science.
More than 150 oral presentations and 165 scientific posters from all fields of Arctic research were presented during the meeting, reflecting the tremendous research effort supported by ArcticNet and the high level of multidisciplinarity of ArcticNet’s program.
The success of the Integrated Regional Impact Study (IRIS) framework was manifest during this ASM with two great topical sessions entirely dedicated to the impacts of climate change in the Canadian Eastern Sub-Arctic and many productive IRIS coordination side-meetings.
Evidence of a promising future for Canadian Arctic research, more than 335 Graduate Students, Post-Doctoral Fellows and Researchers attended the sixth ArcticNet Student Day. Moreover, thirteen students were awarded prizes for the excellence of their posters and their work.
The ArcticNet Board of Directors, Research Management Committee and Administration Centre would like to thank all the participants, sponsors and exhibitors for their contribution in making ASM2010 such a great success.
