ArcticNet and MEOPAR sign MoU
ArcticNet is pleased to announce this partnership of many to further Arctic science: We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Marine Environmental Observation Prediction and Response Network (MEOPAR). This MoU between ArcticNet and MEOPAR defines how the organizations will work together to promote northern research and culture while supporting the exchange of knowledge and fostering the creation of synergies in Arctic research between communities, researchers, institutions, governments, and the private sector.
The MoU was signed on August 31st, 2022.
“ArcticNet and MEOPAR are teaming up to continue offering unique training and research opportunities for Arctic and ocean scientists. We also strive to enhance support for northern communities in the co-development of research projects and approached to address local to global concerns.” – Christine Barnard, ArcticNet Executive Director
“The Arctic, representing Canada’s longest coastline, is at the forefront of climate and environmental change. MEOPAR looks forward to working with our partners at ArcticNet to address the challenges and opportunities facing coastal communities and marine industries across the Arctic. Together, we can improve access to the ships and other infrastructure needed for excellent ocean science, and empower coastal Indigenous communities to meet local needs and interests.” – Brent Else, Associate Scientific Director of MEOPAR.
